Tamarah Evanko, Esq. graduated from the City University of New York Graduate Center in 2000 with a B.A. in Communicative Persuasion and Legal Persuasion. After graduating from school she worked as a mortgage underwriter specializing in Mortgage backed Securities. In 2002, she entered Quinnipiac University School of Law.
During her time at Quinnipiac she served as the treasurer, public relations, and ultimately president of BLSA (Black Law Students Association). Tamarah “Tami” as her friends and family call her; earned a place on the BLSA National Mock Trial Team. As a student, she was involved in and started different community service programs, many of which focused on inner city youths. During her leadership of the BLSA group they established the Community Service award and Scholarship. The award recognizes the achievements of thos in the local community who assist in bringing together the different races and impoverished individuals. While working full time, she also worked at a not for profit legal clinic providing services to the under privileged. While in law school, she earned a concentration in Family Law and is certified in Arbitration by Penn State School of Law & McGill University Law School. After school, she began her own law firm, Evanko & Associates LLC.
Currently, she works in the following areas besides the private clients:
Special Public Defender in the New Haven Courts,
a Guardian-ad-Litem across Connecticut,
a Court appointed attorney for Neglected children and their parents in the juvenile matters courts and;
is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association's Young Lawyer's Section
In the spirit of giving back to the community, she gives frequent talks about the real estate market and wills, trusts & probate issues to the elderly and the needy. She is also an active mentor to others who are interested in a legal career.She also volunteers her time with the Connecticut Pro Bono Network and Lawyers for Children America.
She won a lawsuit and injunction against the Hamden Board of Educationwhich has been featured in a recent article. She works with her clients personally on their cases. She represented clients in a variety of cases. Her experience includes, family, housing, divorce, wills, and probate. Her skills with negotiation have helped her clients settle matters promptly.
She also prides herself in working for the betterment of her fellow man. She has worked with children of New Haven schools, mentorship, and continues to counsel peers and others who need assistance.
Her most recent work has been with her daughter Victorial Lynn who was born in Jan. 2009. As a working mother she combines her knowledge of the field with her aptitude in her caring for clients needs.
